ISHMAEL ANNOBIL


 

ISHMAEL FIIFI ANNOBIL is a poet, screenwriter, producer, director, photographer, videographer, journalist, graphic designer, and digital composer. Born in Accra, Ghana, in 1958, he has lived in the Sudan and Kenya, where he wrote, co-produced and performed the acclaimed poetic, multi-media show, Criers on the Thresholds of Reality (Nairobi 1983), for the homeless. He came to Britain in 1983, and worked briefly in London as an editor, before spending eleven years in Wales, where he founded the poetry festival, Iolo's Children, and Wales' first serious arts newspaper, Circa21. Ishmael has produced and directed three art documentaries for Stonedog, namely, In the Presence of Awe: The Transvangarde; Kenji Yoshida - Artist of the Soul; and Strange Fruit - The Art of Fiona Foley. His screenplay, Cry For Me, Baby, will be filmed shortly by Stonedog. He is the founder/editor of Ciaroscuro.com and he has published two books of poetry, Seven Horn Elegy and Ethiop. His forthcoming books include Portrait of a Man in Pain (novel), Inklings of Clay (historical novella), and Utopia of the Worms (poetry). He is the conceiver of Stonedog.
